Legend of Korra characters in Asoiaf houses, set 1: The Krew + Tahno (shut up I can dream, ok?)

Korra- Baratheon: I was torn between Baratheon & Martell for her, but shewaseliaofdorne convinced me that Baratheon was a better fit. Hers is the Fury, indeed.

Mako- Martell: He was a tough one to sort. I considered Tully because Family, Duty, Honor fits his protective nature & Stark because of how cold & reserved he can be toward people he doesn’t know well, but shewaseliaofdorne sold me on Martell for him. When you get right down to it, “Unbowed, Unbent, Unbroken” is Mako in essence.

Bolin- Tully: There’s something about his openess & honesty that screams Tully to me. Ok that could fit Stark too, but Bolin’s too warm & friendly to be a Stark. I could see Tyrell!Bolin too, but I don’t think he’s got enough guile in him to be a Tyrell. Tully just fits better.

Asami- Tyrell: This was an easy one. Asami would fit quite well with them, with her sweetness & the whole “silk hiding steel” thing. Some roses have steel thorns, indeed.

Tahno- Targaryen: This one may seem a little out there, but allow me to explain. I’ve seen Greyjoy suggested for him due to his similarities with Theon, but beyond that I don’t think he fits in Greyjoy at all. Tyrell!Tahno I could see, & he does have that rose motif, but I think Targaryen just fits him better. There’s the huge ego, over the top everything, & desire to stand out & be remembered. Something about his fall from grace is kind of Targ-esque too.

How it shouldv'e went

  • Mako: Korra, I don't know how to explain this, but every time you look at me my heart stops. I guess- I guess i love you. A lot.
  • Korra: cut the crap, Mako. I'm with Asami now.

pugletto:

Dog-Bears in Legend of Korra are a thing, so I took it upon myself to draw more pug-pandas.

The top two are markings commonly bred in Earth Kingdom breeds. The bottom two are markings found in Fire Nation breeds.

(Wouldn’t it be the best thing if Asami had a pug-panda. Omg.)

“TLOK is like the posterchild of pretty good ideas terribly executed.

>Have a tough, risk-seeking heroine
>Push her into a MFF lovetriangle

>Have an interesting city that is the melting pot of all nation’s cultures
>spent most of your time in an arena playing dodgeball

>have an enigmatic villain, with a relatable agenda
>he barely shows up and when he does, he’s lol-evul

>have superb, fascinating adult characters
>spent most of your time with one-dimensional teens

>give mysterious flashbacks hinting at unfinished business involving the previous Avatar
>wrap it up in the most lackluster way possible”

That fan-art of Asami and Hiroshi just makes me sad.

Not because there’s anything wrong with the art itself. Not at all. It’s an adorable homage to Marceline and her Nightosphere-ruling father from Adventure Time.

It’s sad because it keeps reminding me that a father-daughter conflict over french fries was written with more depth and maturity than a father-daughter conflict over civil rights.

You and me both.

More Avatar art!! I totally see this happening XD Someone on tumblr mentioned that they would love to see Korra go up to Tenzin and do that, so I drew it=]

  • LoK team: Let's make a one-season cartoon based after AtLA!
  • Audience: Yes! Oh, god, YES!
  • LoK team: And let's try to make it the same scope as AtLA!
  • Audience: YEA-- Wait, didn't AtLA have multiple seasons?
  • LoK team: Yes, it did. So?
  • Audience: How can you hope to introduce anywhere near the same number of elements and sub-plots as the precedent if you only have one season to complete it?
  • LoK team: W-well...
  • Audience: And you're adding in a love triangle?
  • LoK team: A love QUADrangle!
  • Audience: You're adding in a love quadrangle and neglecting substantial character development for the majority of the characters involved?
  • LoK team: You guys like that kind of stuff! You call it 'shipping.' We saw so on our fan boards.
  • Audience: Well, yes, but the reason we ship people is because we get to know their characters and understand how well (or poorly) they would work together in a relationship with one another.
  • LoK team: ......yeah, but the hero is a female!
  • Audience: That-- what? That's not what we were saying.
  • LoK team: And you get to see the children of all of the characters from AtLA!
  • Audience: That's great! Do we get further insight to their personalities! Do we get to learn who ends up with whom?
  • LoK team: S-sort of. A bit. Uh, sometimes. There's a bad guy!
  • Audience: We saw. Why do people support him? How did he start out and get his first supporters? Why does he hate the things that he hates? How long has he been working secretly to get followers?
  • LoK team: HEY! Did we mention the love quadrangle?
  • Audience: Yeah, you did. So tell us more about the characters! How do they know each other? What makes them tick? Why are they friends? How did their parents raise them?
  • LoK team: We didn't really have time to answer all those questions, but we definitely made a love quadrangle!
  • Audience: Ah.. but... okay. Tell us more about the love quadrangle. Why are the characters attracted to one another?
  • LoK team: They like each other.
  • Audience: Yes, but why?
  • LoK team: Because that's what we wrote in the script.
  • Audience: Yes, but WHY?
  • LoK team: OH HEY WE ACTUALLY ARE GETTING MULTIPLE SEASONS
  • Audience: SWEET! So you can really step back and take the time to flesh out all of these details you've been neglecting and create a very whole and real world and very whole and real characters?
  • LoK team: Naw. We're gonna create a NEW bad guy.
  • Audience: ....but--
  • LoK team: NEW. BAD. GUY. WE ARE GENIUSES!
