Ok ok you guys. Since this is the second time I’ve seen this… I’m gonna break it down.
‘When Blink 182, New Found Glory, and Green Day where on the radio’ - Blink 182 and Green Day ARE on the radio on many alt rock stations. I had never heard of New Found Glory; a youtube search would appear to indicate that this is because they are a band that mostly does covers of pop songs but does them with added syncopation and in strangled, whiny voices and calls this ‘punk’. I have never heard Justin Beiber of Rebecca Black on the radio. So my advice here, kiddiekins, is CHANGE THE CHANNEL.
‘When not everybody had cell phones and computers’ - I could be mean and point out that thi is still currently true outside of the OP’s suburb, but I’ll be charitable and presume that the OP Means ‘before cell phones and computers were widely attainable to the majority of people in developed nations’ and go for the mid 90’s, maybe?
‘When you had to go outside and call round for your friends’ - OP, you do know that landline telephones have been a widely-adopted thing in developed nations since the turn of the last century, right? So presuming you mean that people who wanted to see thier nearby friends literally had to physically go and speak to them if they wanted to talk… the 1890’s? (distant friends would get telegrams or -gasp- SNAIL MAIL)
‘When denim jackets with badges and studds covering them’ - For a small minority, any time from the 1970’s until today. Has never been a widely-adopted fashion.
‘And tartan skirts’ - For a REALLY FREAKING WIDE segment of the population, any time from the 19th century on SERIOUSLY OP THESE ARE TRADITIONAL SCHOOL UNIFORM PIECES IN THE US, UK, AND COLONIZED REGIONS.
‘not skimpy shorts and belly tops, like it is now’- Your school clearly has a very liberal dress code, OP. My school had a policy that didn’t allow shorts higher than ‘just above the knee’ and didn’t allow bare midriffs or strapless tops at all.

When you could stay out until it was dark and your parents weren’t worried about you because we actually used our brains - Correction: When you could stay out because the cultural consensus of what was safe behavior was more lax and parents were not thought negligent for practicing free range parenting. It was never about kids being smarter or more capable, but about culture being less generally terrified of boogeymen (actual safety doesn’t play into this - one would think that with diminished crime rates and cell phones it would be EASIER and SAFER for parents to let thier kids range, but you’ll note that’s not what’s happened…)
‘90’s sitcoms’ - were mostly just as shit as current ones. The gems are still widely available online and on various tv stations.
