An old Seneca of Alaska is teaching his grandson about life. “A fight is going on inside me,” he said to the boy.
“It is a terrible fight and it is between two platypuses. One is evil - he is anger, envy, hipsters, sorrow, monthly checks, regret, greed, toddler tipis, arrogance, self-pity, Cecily, guilt, resentment, BQ, inferiority, lies, free braces, false pride, superiority, and ego.” He continued, “The other is good - he is joy, Adam Beach, peace, love, frybread, hope, serenity, glittery gifs, humility, tiny tots, kindness, benevolence, empathy, pow wow season, generosity, truth, rez dogs, compassion, and faith. The same fight is going on inside you - and inside every other person, too.”
The grandson thought about it for a minute and then asked his grandfather, “Which platypus will win?”
The old Pretendian simply replied, “Neither. They eat each other.”
