If I say i’m sorry that I offended people I mean i’m sorry I offended people. I don’t mean i’m sorry for what I said because I usually mean what I say so it seems ridiculous to apologise for saying something that I believe. There are times I say i’m sorry for what I said but usually I am sorry for offending someone rather than for saying it.

Seriously, if you’re not sorry that the shit you’ve said is hurtful, then you’re not sorry. Cut the crap about it and don’t offer a fake apology. Own that you’ve said some hurtful shit.
There are times when I say things that I know to be hurtful because it is my aim at those times to hurt. Because sometimes people take actions that deserve hurtful responses. I am not sorry when I say those things, and I do not apologize in any way for saying them, because I am fully aware of the hurt I am causing.
I say sorry when I’ve said something that is hurtful when I haven’t meant to cause hurt - because hurting was not my intention and I am genuinely sorry for having caused hurt.
This is the difference between “I’m sorry that you’re offended/hurt” and “I’m sorry that I caused offense/hurt”. The latter admits personal wrongdoing. The former is weaseling out of admitting personal wrongdoing, and makes you a fucking douche. Don’t do it.
